designer profile: SHAKUHACHI

Parallel Lines AW13

This season, the Shakuhachi girl is a sleek-limbed supergirl, as unashamedly 90’s as giant blow-wave hair, jangling gold earrings or a perfectly placed beauty spot. Wild mixes of pattern and print, in addition to tight silhouettes, create a collection with as much sass and sex appeal as Linda Evangelista.

Texture and print clash together in perfect disarray: alligator stamped leather, sheer lace, gypsy prints and pony-skin leopard come together with a slick of red lipstick.

The highlight of the collection lies in a scorching ode to an 80’s Gianni Versace. Heavenly gold embellishment as decadent as The Ritz ballroom encrusts white leather midriff baring tops, micro leather shifts and thigh scraping skirts. This risqué baroque aesthetic is now becoming a Shakuhachi signature.

This season Shakuhachi’s **** has successfully returned to the era of Naomi, Claudia, Cindy, Christie and Linda.
